Medical Astrology
Medical astrology is as ancient as astrology itself. It is actually thought to be the oldest form of astrology and the original way it was intended to be used, for health and wellness purposes. In fact, thousands of years ago, you could not be considered a medical professional without studying the stars and their relation to the human body.
Deepening my understanding of medical astrology has been so fascinating and satisfying. Medical astrology is actually what I use when you book a StarBody Treatment with me. This is how, when looking at your birth chart, I know exactly which bodywork modalities and products work best for you.
I recently began an online course by Kira Sutherland; an Australian based naturopath, nutritionist, herbalist, medical astrologer and expert in her field. Iβm particularly looking forward to the portion of this course that takes a look at herbalism and nutrition as medicine. Did you know there are recommended plants and foods specific to your personal astrology? I canβt wait to bring what I learn directly to you all!
Photo of the week: Another bonus photo from my trip to North Carolina. This one was taken at Camp North End, an outdoor market with a variety of eateries and shops. Worth a stop here if you find yourself in the area!
StarBody Report
Last week I wrote all about working with the sensual, practical magic of Taurus season. Itβs worth a read if you havenβt yet checked it out! I genuinely enjoyed exploring all the ways we can use our senses to ground into spring.
This week Iβm continuing our conversation centering Taurus, only this time Iβll bring your attention to the new moon that happened yesterday. Lucky for us, we still have time to co-create with the new moon and its expansive energy in the sign of the bull.
A new moon signifies a chance at a new beginning, however, we have free will. We get to choose what we do with the influence the planets inspire, so why not fully utilize the benefits of this transit?
There are many important themes highlighted this new moon in Taurus but I want to touch on two that are often in mind for me- security and values. Which of these two, if not both, could use some attention in your life?
ββββββββββββββββββββββββ-
1. Do you feel safe and secure? Security and comfort are so important to Taurus.
There are many ways to feel safe- psychologically, financially, emotionally, physically- but if we do not feel safe in our body, all logic goes out the window. You can actually be in zero danger while your body is signaling otherwise. If you more often than not feel anxious or a sense of dis-ease, it might be time to establish some new grounding practices.
Grounding Bodywork for Taurus Season
Try combatng anxiety with bodywork. A shoulder massage in particular is recommended. Taurus rules the shoulders so this is likely where youβll experience the most discomfort in your body when your sense of security feels threatened.
Taurus also rules the neck and throat. Reserving your voice when possible and draining toxins from your neck with lymphatic drainage is also effective for maintaining a sense of safety within.
Additional grounding practices according to the element of your sun and/or rising signs:
π³ Get out in nature (Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn)
π¬οΈ Meaningful conversations or journaling (Gemini, Libra, Aquarius)
π₯ Physical movement (Aries, Leo, Sagittarius)
π Alone time or parallel play with a trusted loved one (Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces)
2. What are your core values? Taurus swears by theirs.
For example, some of my mine are freedom, creative expression, spiritual wellness and authenticity. A new moon is the perfect time to review or re-establish yours and yes youβre allowed to change your mind and your values as you age and grow.
Values Exercise
If you donβt have any values set in place, Google a list and write down the ones that stand out to you most. You can then narrow that list down as many times as you need, til youβre left with about 3-5 core values. Taking some time to reflect on how you are or are not living in alignment with your values can be eye opening.
Taurus knows that when we live in alignment with our values, the details that make up our lives arenβt as important as how life feels while living it. This makes all the difference in our experience here on earth and allows for room to release control and ride the wave of life rather than swim against the current in search of specific outcomes.
Feel free to respond with questions and comments,
:) Ferris
