SJ Jazz Summer Fest
If you know me personally, you know that my family has gone to the San Jose Jazz Festival every year since I was a toddler. This year was no different.
Jazz Fest is fun because there’s so much more than just jazz. There’s a ton of live music of multiple genres providing the soundtrack to a weekend full of sunshine, food, vendors and good vibes! Here’s a few shots from this past Saturday.
First stop was brunch at Eos and Nyx. Brunch before the festival is a fairly new tradition of the last few years.
Our crew was smaller than usual this year but just as fun. Clockwise: My sister JoJo, my cousins Mya and Miesha, my mama Melinda, my friends Wille and Mindy.
This is the general vibe at Jazz Fest. Very loud music, dancing, 90 degree weather, lots of traveling back and forth to our blanket and running into friends and family attending the festival alllllll day long.

The Alebrijes exhibit stopped in San Jose just in time for festival goers to enjoy.

I have great news this week! Mercury stations direct today! Yes- Pluto, Neptune and Saturn are still retrograde but I’ll take what I can get. I’ve spent the last couple of weeks in deep (uncomfortable) reflection and I’m so happy this energy is beginning to lift. In other news- Saturn and Uranus are having a rather pleasant “conversation” and forming what is known as a sextile. A sextile is when two planets are in a harmonious aspect just 60 degrees apart from one another.
Saturn being the planet of responsibility and Uranus, the planet of unpredictability, playing well together makes me giggle. What could this possibly mean for us? Mixing work and play? Mixing play and activism? Taking care of the practical parts of our lives in surprising new ways? Scheduling time off with no plans for said time off?
Remember the planets bring the energy but you have free will to decide how you navigate it. Shake it up this week without permission.
